Angel Reese invites Michael Jordan to watch her play for the Chicago Sky in the WNBA preseason

Angel Reese has openly invited Michael Jordan to come watch a Chicago Sky game next week ahead of the start of the 2024 WNBA season as the former LSU star revealed she has never met the NBA legend.

Ahead of the Sky’s first game of the new season against the Dallas Wings on May 15, the rookie forward, who turned 22 on Monday, touched on several topics and shared her desire to chat with the former Chicago Bulls guard — a six-time NBA champion — one day soon.

“There are so many great players who have been here before us. Candace (Parker) is retired. Michael Jordan,” Reese said WGN News.

“I want Michael Jordan to come to the game. I’m telling you right now. I want Michael Jordan to come to the game.

“I never met him! It will be the first time,» she added.

On the eve of her 22nd birthday, Angel Reese wished Michael Jordan would come to a Chicago Sky game this season.

Amid the controversy that one of the Sky’s preseason games wasn’t featured on WNBA’s League Pass, Reese — the seventh overall pick in this year’s draft — will have to hit the ground running as the Sky’s second game last week. Star Kamilla Cardoso faces four to six weeks on the sidelines with a shoulder injury.

Cardoso was injured in the Sky’s 92-81 loss to the visiting Minnesota Lynx on Friday, which was widely watched on live fan coverage after the WNBA was unable to broadcast the game.

Meanwhile, Reese attended the 2024 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York for her birthday on Monday.

In addition, she can expect large crowds to watch her this season as WNBA ticket sales on StubHub are up 93 percent.

The increase follows StubHub’s record sales for the NCAA Women’s Tournament and the 2023 WNBA Finals, spokesman Adam Budelli said earlier in May.

The biggest demand for tickets was for the Las Vegas Aces, which hosts three of the top 10 selling games. A total of six Aces season tickets remain, starting at $906 for 20 home games. Overall Aces sales have nearly tripled (up 190 percent) compared to this time a year ago.
