Australian designer Lana Wilkinson’s American dream is becoming a reality as she expands her footwear business to the US


Lana Wilkinson had the American dream – and now it’s about to come true.

A Melbourne entrepreneur has announced she is set to launch her stylish shoe brand in the United States.

Wilkinson, 42, first teased that she was working to get her four-year-old fashion label into stores in the United States in February.

And now the Herald Sun reports that Lana has managed to strike a deal with traders at US department stores.

According to the publication, Lana’s friend Bec Judd and designer Rebecca Valance «worked together» with the high-profile socialite to get her brand Lana Wilkinson in touch during New York Fashion Week.

«There have been exciting meetings and opportunities to explore with the shoes and the brand, especially during New York Fashion Week,» she told the Herald Sun in February.

“It’s a real moment. Watch this space,” she added.

Wilkinson is part of Australia’s elite social circle, which includes Bec Judd and Michelle Greene, who are behind activewear brand Jaggad, and WAG-turned-designer Nadia Bartel.

It is unclear at this stage whether Wilkinson has designed a new range for the US market.

According to the publication, Lana’s friend Bec Judd (pictured left) and designer Rebecca Valance «worked together» with the high-profile socialite to get her label Lana Wilkinson in front of the right contacts during New York Fashion Week.

Her new line advertised on her website includes the $399.95 $399.95 black patent leather «Huw» boots with 8.5cm heels. There is also a set of slingback heels, ‘Cleo’, valued at $229.95.

Meanwhile, Wilkinson has announced she has teamed up with designer Michael Lo Sordo for Sydney Fashion Week, which starts on May 14.

Describing the team as a «dream come true,» Wilkinson told the publication:

“This collaboration feels effortless yet extremely impactful, and together the runway looks tell a story of glamor and creativity that I am very proud to be a part of.

«The partnership is an exciting opportunity for the brand to reach new heights of recognition and success in the fashion industry, and I couldn’t be more excited for Tuesday night.»
