Channel 10 anchor Narelda Jacobs sent a shocking email to the editor about the outfit she wore on Tuesday.

The respected Australian journalist, 48, who hosts the 10 News First lunchtime bulletin, she wore a v-neck blouse paired with a patterned blazer as she discussed the news of the day.

A viewer called her file «inappropriate» in an email sent to her and Ten.

They even went so far as to declare that “cleavage is for the nightclub”.

“Inappropriate dress sense for reading the news. Cleavage is for a nightclub,” the email read.

In response to this unsolicited advice, Jacobs expressed her dismay.

«Yes, we still get emails like this,» she wrote.

«Yes, it got to the whole editorial office. Yes, I was on air at the time. Yes, it’s meant to shame and humiliate me. No, what I’m wearing is not inappropriate, but your email sure is.’

The post received immediate support from Jacobs’ followers and colleagues, with many sharing their own experiences with unwarranted criticism.

Dessert Masters judge Melissa Leong commented: ‘Enter ‘When you really hate yourself so you decide to email random strangers to tell them.’

Similarly, retired swimmer and former weather presenter Giaan Rooney reflected on her own experiences.

‘Yes. The number of emails the editors used to challenge everything about my appearance when I presented the weather was unbelievable,” she said.
