Chelsea have offered Tosin Adarabioya a contract but Newcastle United are still hoping to seal his signature.

The Fulham defender will become a free agent next month and talks with his representatives have led to a deal with Newcastle.

As Mail Sport revealed, a number of clubs, including Manchester United, have shown an interest in the 26-year-old and Chelsea have also made contact, but they have now followed that up with a bid.

Adarabioyo has made 22 appearances for the Cottagers this season, scoring twice, and has spent the last four seasons at the West London club.

Chelsea, who also admire Newcastle goalkeeper James Trafford from Burnley, are looking to increase their domestic quota and Adarabioyo also represents excellent value.

There would be more competition for a first-team place at Chelsea, although they are looking to sell Trevoh Chalobah for around £25m.

Newcastle are still considered favorites and are pushing to push through a deal but are awaiting Adarabioyo’s final decision.
