Cocaine found in Capitol: Police investigate drug found in ‘highly trafficked’ area months after bag discovered in White House cubicle

Capitol Police are investigating after a one-inch ziplock bag of cocaine was found in a «highly trafficked» area a few blocks from the U.S. Capitol building.

The illegal drug was found on the second floor of the US Capitol Police (USCP) headquarters just before 1:00 PM ET on Wednesday.

It was discovered just months after the Joe Biden administration was rocked by scandal after a bag of white powder – which tested positive for cocaine – was found in a White House cubicle.

Capitol Police said they are investigating ‘an approximately one inch by one inch zip lock bag containing a small amount of a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine.

«The hallway is on the second floor in an area that was a place for furniture and supplies,» USCP said in a statement.

“This area is heavily loaded with various suppliers and employees. It’s also close to offices like Prisoner Processing, Crime Scene, Intel, and Reports Processing.”

After it was found and reported, the rest was field tested and tested positive for cocaine, the report said.

“The USCP Investigations Division has opened an investigation that will include further testing, including DNA testing of the luggage. We will provide more information as it becomes available.”

Over the summer, cocaine was found in President Joe Biden’s White House phone box.

DailyMail.com obtained Secret Service photos of a bag of white powder found in a cubicle used to store personal belongings near the White House’s West Executive entrance in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.

The cocaine was found in Locker No. 50 on Sunday, July 2, while the Biden family — including son Hunter — spent the weekend at Camp David ahead of the July 4 holiday.

The discovery prompted the evacuation of the West Wing and the closure of streets around the White House, then triggered an 11-day investigation once the substance was identified as an illegal drug.

Documents obtained by DailyMail.com also show that FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate was involved in the investigation that clouded the Biden administration with scandal this summer.

The Secret Service closed the investigation in less than two weeks due to «lack of evidence».

The list of suspects was narrowed down to 500, but security footage failed to identify the owner because the cameras are not directed into the locker room area.

It is unclear if any suspects were interviewed during the brief investigation.

The lockers are not assigned to specific staff, a source familiar with the set-up told DailyMail.com, but instead guests can choose a locker to use and take a key.

They are used by people who are outside of West Wing visitors, not White House staff or the Executive Office of the President.

The same source also said that the most likely culprit was someone conducting a search, as anyone familiar with the White House would know that there was a bathroom steps away from where the contraband could have been flushed.

Documents obtained by DailyMail.com include real-time updates, such as a description that a 1″ x 1″ bag of white powdery substance was found near where pass holders put their phones down as they entered the (redacted).

Another document states that the individual who found the cocaine «was believed to be related to the drug.»

Secret Service officials noted that the president was at Camp David and Vice President Kamala Harris was in Los Angeles at the time of the discovery.

«There are no media reports of this incident at the time,» the first Secret Service document says.

As news broke of the incident, documents show Secret Service officials arguing back and forth with reporters over whether the powder was cocaine.

The Secret Service also had to specify where it was found, as initial reports of the incident said the cocaine was discovered in the White House library, then in the West Wing lobby, and finally in a cubicle at the West Executive entrance.

An initial test by DC fire’s Hazmat team came back positive for opioids and amphetamines, while initial tests by the Secret Service were inconclusive.

“They’re probably going with what they got from the DC fire. I can only speak to what the Secret Service is doing and we sent it for formalized testing. I’m not saying direct fire is wrong, but we have a different process,” the Secret Service communications chief says in an email amid a barrage of media requests.
