Erik ten Hag is demanding Man United sign a defender, midfielder and striker this summer to push back into the top four – despite facing the sack after the FA Cup final.

Erik ten Hag has asked Manchester United to sign a defender, midfielder and striker this summer.

According to reports, the Dutchman is expected to be sacked after Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester City regardless of the result.

But The Hag insists he remains in the plans of new Man United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team since the petrochemical billionaire took charge of football operations in February.

He urged the club to spend this summer’s transfer window strengthening in more positions if they are to secure a top-four finish next season.

We need to get another striker in the summer. And if we manage to sign another central midfielder and a replacement for Varane, things will look good again. If the team stays fit, we can try to aim for the top four again,» said Ten Hag in an interview with VI.

United have been hampered by defensive injuries this season, with the likes of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane spending large chunks of the season on the sidelines.

It has been confirmed that he will leave as a free agent next month after three years at the club.

United’s midfield has also struggled this season, with the £55million Mount bricklayer limited to just 19 appearances in all competitions due to injury.

Meanwhile, Casemiro has failed to replicate the levels he showed in his debut season at Old Trafford and could be set for a move to Saudi Arabia.
