Galaxy S22 and older phones will get Samsung’s new Galaxy AI

Samsung has started rolling out its One UI 6.1 update to devices like the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21, extending some of its Galaxy AI capabilities to older models — or at least introducing certain AI features to select older phones.

After launching the Galaxy S24 series in February, Samsung delivered on its promise with an introduction Galaxy AI features on Galaxy S23 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 in March and April.

Now it’s the turn of older Galaxy phones. According to SamMobile, the One UI 6.1 update is starting to roll out to older Samsung phones in South Korea, which likely means a wider release is coming soon.

Update for Galaxy S22, Z folding 4and the Z Flip 4 includes all the new features, but some are missing from the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3 and S21.

The last three phones only really get Google Circle to Search. Features like Live Translation, Chat Assist, Generative Edit and Browsing Assist appear to remain exclusive to Samsung flagship devices and tablets released in 2022 and beyond.

Samsung’s Galaxy AI feature set stands out as one of our top highlights of the Galaxy S24 line-up, potentially outdoing Google’s efforts with its Pixel 8 series.
