How ‘Never Trump’ Donors Consider Abandoning BIDEN Over His ‘Betrayal’ of Israel … and Do the Unthinkable in 2024

Donors who never thought they would support Donald Trump are now considering throwing their millions behind the former president after Joe Biden suspended arms shipments to Israel in its war with Hamas.

Four donors who contributed tens of millions of dollars in the 2020 election cycle told The Free Press they are reconsidering their donations from last cycle now that they know where Biden stands on the Israel conflict.

In an interview with CNN last week, President Biden said he would completely stop sending weapons to Israel if its forces attack the southern Gaza city of Rafah, after a report emerged with the Israel Defense Forces that the White House had halted shipments of US-made weapons.

«I am not supplying weapons that have historically been used to deal with Rafah,» the president said in an interview last Wednesday.

Michael Granoff, managing partner of hedge fund Maniv, who worked as a staffer for Bill Clinton’s campaign in the 1990s, voted for Biden in 2020 but now says he has lost faith in the president and is considering voting for Trump.

«I’m not voting for Biden. I’m not saying I’m voting for Trump, but now it’s a non-zero chance,” he told The Free Press.

President Joe Biden said in an interview with CNN that aired Wednesday, May 8, 2024, that he is considering ending all US arms sales to Israel if they attack the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

Granoff believes that Biden’s current stance betrays the commitments he made to the world’s only Jewish state after Hamas terrorists attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, engaging in the largest one-day massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust.

«The speech he gave on October 11 was one of the best speeches a president has ever given,» Granoff said. “If he had stuck to that policy, he would be leading the race right now. I would get the money for him.’

Biden has faced mounting pressure through nationwide protests from a left-wing voting bloc that accuses Israel of genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza.

This includes an outbreak of protesters on campuses, many of whom have set up camps on campus and refuse to leave until their colleges divest themselves of any company that does business with Israel.

Now, Biden appears to be caving in to that pressure by suspending arms shipments.

Granoff isn’t the only «never Trumper» who might donate to the former president — or at least ditch the current president — in an effort to prevent Biden from a second term.

Republican donor Cliff Asness says he’s «spent over seven figures» supporting Trump’s primary opponent Nikki Haley, but says his determination to make sure there isn’t another holocaust belies his thoughts of never donating to Trump.

«My ‘Never Again’ trumps my ‘Never Trump’ these days,» Asness told the Free Press.

«Biden is a huge disappointment, a moral outrage really, because this arms embargo is just the latest and greatest outrage,» the AQR Capital Management co-founder continued. «Despite my long opposition to him, it’s more likely for me, though I’m not quite there yet, to see Trump as the better of two bad alternatives.»

Bill Ackman, a registered Democrat hedge fund billionaire, also responded after CNN aired Biden’s comments, writing on X that his decision to halt arms shipments was «one of the worst acts against an ally of a sitting president ever.»

«Hopefully that means he won’t be sitting any longer,» he added.

Haim Saban, a billionaire entertainment mogul and Democratic donor, wrote an email last week to two senior White House advisers in which he spoke out against changing Biden’s policy on Israel.

«Let’s not forget that there are more Jewish voters who care about Israel than Muslim voters who care about Hamas,» he wrote.
