Inside Jennifer Lopez’s fight to save her marriage and career: Why star believes she can save broken relationship with Ben Affleck – as she suffers fresh ‘humiliation’ in Vegas

Her attempt – at the age of 54 – to re-emerge as a so-called «triple threat» (singer, dancer and actor) some three decades after her initial rise to fame is taking everything she has.

And even though her marriage is falling apart behind the scenes, Jennifer Lopez seems to be refusing to quit.

The tension is evident.

Lopez and husband Ben Affleck live separately in LA, although they have both been seen wearing wedding rings.

Affleck is believed to have moved into a rental in Brentwood earlier this month, while J.Lo stayed with her children in her $60 million Bel Air ‘dream home’.

Three weeks ago, she walked the red carpet at the Met Gala – where she co-chaired – alone.

Some sources said that Affleck is ready to leave his two-year marriage after «coming to his senses» that his decision to rekindle their old romance and marry her in July 2022 in Vegas was simply born of a «fever dream».

Others say the pair are working through their issues together and still hope their rollercoaster love story hasn’t ended.

Sure, they put up a united front for their children.

Last week, the pair attended a school play starring Affleck’s child Fin, 15, from his previous marriage to Jennifer Garner. Fin and J.Lo’s child Emme (13) are said to be close.

«If it’s just a matter of putting in the work, then you better believe (Lopez) is going to turn it around,» says one of J.Lo’s LA friends.

“She’s put her heart and soul into her love story with Ben and she’s not going to give it up without a fight. From what I’ve heard, there’s still a lot of love out there, so there must be hope.’

Officially, neither party will comment on the «speculation» about their marriage.

When asked about it directly at a press conference last week, she coldly told a reporter, «You know better.»

But while her personal life may be in crisis, I understand that professionally she is «focused and dedicated» and still firmly believes that her efforts to secure the legacy of one of the great icons of American entertainment will end in success.

Allies points out that while her new sci-fi film Atlas — in which she stars and has a producer credit — has been widely panned by critics, it’s still among Netflix’s top ten most-watched movies in 93 countries, ranking No. 1 in many.

The New York Post described the film as a «flop» with a «depressing» screenplay.

There was also a lot of buzz surrounding poor ticket sales for her upcoming ‘This Is Me… Now’ tour.

But while it’s certainly true that shows in Nashville, New Orleans, Raleigh, Atlanta, Houston, Cleveland and Tampa all had to be canceled due to low demand, sources close to Lopez say she’s far from the only major artist to have struggled. late.

Both Pink and Justin Timberlake recently canceled concert dates due to difficulties in selling to a streaming-addicted generation.

Her album ‘This Is Me…Now’ and accompanying film of the same name have also come under fire. The New York Times described the rather bizarre film as «exhausting, never-ending, dangerous».

Lopez self-funded the $20 million project and said people thought she was crazy to do it. However, it is understood that Prime Video sold it at a profit – and was notably ranked No.1 among the streamer’s films in its debut week.

It was followed by the release of a «making of» documentary titled «The Greatest Love Story Never Told». The film – chronicling her 20-year «love story» with Affleck – was financed by his production company, Artists Equity.

In the documentary, Affleck talked about enjoying the celebrity spotlight less than his wife, but said he realized it wouldn’t be ‘fair’ to Lopez to cut her out.

This film was also sold at a profit to Prime Video.

The album ‘This Is Me…Now’ alone was the best-selling album of J.Lo’s career. But sources say physical album sales are «apples to oranges» compared to where they were a decade ago, when she last released an album.

It was also pointed out that the record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart for physical album sales.

As for the future, I’m told that despite reports that plans for J.Lo’s Las Vegas residency are now «in jeopardy,» negotiations are very much «ongoing» — though no deal has yet been signed.

Earlier this week, it was reported that MGM Grand and Live Nation had offered $1 million a night for 90 shows in 2025, but that executives have since been «nervous» about her recent tour cancellation.

There’s speculation that the deal could now be less lucrative for J.Lo — who previously held a residency in Sin City from 2016 to 2018 and earned nearly $102 million — but her team doesn’t seem to care.

As one friend says: ‘(She had) a phenomenal career and is still a global force.’
