Instagram selects users to test exclusive new features

For years, WhatsApp Beta testers have had the privilege of accessing new features before everyone else. The company established its Beta Testers program a long time ago, giving users who sign up the opportunity to test the latest updates first.

Recent reports suggest that Instagram is planning to introduce an “Early Access to Features” option that may work similar to WhatsApp beta testing program. Currently, Instagram users eager to try new features before the official launch can only do so through the Android Beta program.

Mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi shared a screenshot revealing that Instagram’s new Early Access feature will be available in the app’s settings menu. Although details are scarce, the feature is expected to work similarly to WhatsApp’s beta program.

In addition to the early access program Instagram is reportedly developing an innovative feature that will allow users to create chat topics using artificial intelligence. Currently, Instagram provides customizable chat themes with color gradients and pre-designed options. However, a leaked screenshot hints at a new «Create with AI» option, suggesting that Instagram is exploring customized AI-generated chat topics.

Meta recently emphasized AI integration and introduced an AI chatbot on its platforms, including Instagram. This chatbot helps users solve questions on various topics such as trip planning, recipe suggestions, and makeup and skin care advice. Using Meta AI and drawing information from Google, the chatbot offers answers complete with links to resources. Users can access the chatbot through Instagram DMs.

Meta is not alone in its strong focus on AI. Companies like Google and Microsoft are also expanding their AI initiatives with their chatbots. Google offers Gemini (formerly known as Bard), while Microsoft does Co-pilot (formerly called Bing).
