iPad Pro dreams come true with leaked leaks

Apple is expected to unveil a new OLED iPad Pro this spring. While there has been considerable speculation about the product, it’s always reassuring when Apple officially confirms certain features through upcoming software updates.

In the latest findings, Filipe Espósito of 9to5Mac uncovered hints in iOS 17.4 pointing to an upcoming iPad with a landscape-oriented Face ID camera. While we previously verified Apple’s plans to extend the iPad 10 design to other tablets, Espósito’s confirmation of this potential change comes from new code strings introduced in the initial iOS 17.4 beta.

According to his observations, the files from iOS 17.4 betas indicate that Apple is in the process of developing an iPad, possibly the iPad Pro, with a TrueDepth camera placed at the top in landscape orientation. This departure from previous iPad Pro designs, where the front-facing camera was placed at the top in portrait mode, hints at a beneficial adjustment in the upcoming iPad model.

This adjustment promises a smoother video calling experience, as iPad users typically keep their devices in landscape orientation.

The journalist goes on to note the revamped iOS setup process and cites a new system string that states: “Face ID requires landscape orientation during setup to learn your face,” and another message emphasizing that Face ID works smoothly in both portrait and landscape mode after setup is complete.

Filipe Espósito adds another fascinating detail to the iPad Pro leak intrigue regarding the upcoming Apple Pencil 3. His discoveries suggest that Apple is actively working on integrating Find My for the accessory.

While specific features, whether reminiscent of a MagSafe or AirTag wallet, remain uncertain, iPadOS will at least keep reminding you whenever you disconnect the Pencil from the iPad.

These dual iPad Pro the reveal raised my expectations for this product, especially with other speculations suggesting the inclusion of an M3 chip, a top-of-the-line OLED display, and a suite of innovative accessories. Among them, the transformative Magic Keyboard is expected to give the iPad Pro a Mac-like appearance and add to the excitement surrounding the device.

If this new accessory manages to effectively save the battery life of the iPad, it seems that the only remaining improvement that Apple might need is in the field of iPadOS 18, because the hardware is ready to fulfill every conceivable wish.
