Jay Leno is filing for conservatorship over his wife of 44 years who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease

Jay Leno filed for protection for his wife Mavis, 77, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

The 73-year-old TV legend filed legal documents Friday to become the administrator of Mavis’ estate, TMZ reported.

It is unclear when Mavis was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, a progressive degenerative brain disease in which the accumulation of abnormal proteins causes nerve cells to die.

The couple were together for more than four decades after they married in 1980.

Forced administration is a legal situation where a court authorizes a person to manage the personal and financial affairs of a minor or an incompetent person.

During a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Jay said that people should ‘marry the person you want to be’ and that he ‘married the perfect person’.

The comedian and former TV host was spotted driving his Tesla Cybertruck, the latest addition to his extensive car collection, in Los Angeles in December.

His walk came 11 months after he broke his collarbone in a motorbike accident – the incident came two months after he was burnt to death in an engine fire.

On November 12, 2022, Leno and his friend Dave Killackey were working on one of their vintage cars at his LA headquarters when his 1907 White Steam Car burst into flames and exploded in his face.

Len’s face then caught fire as Killackey said, «I couldn’t see his face, it was a wall of fire.»

After preventing Lenovo’s entire body from being engulfed in flames, Killackey extinguished the car fire.

In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Jay said he went to hospital after the shocking incident and then decided to go home «so his wife would know».

Temporary skin grafts from «human corpse skin» were added to the body of the comedian, Dr. Peter Grossman said Leno suffered «fairly severe» burns to «about 7 percent of his body»

«Then I went to bed and when I woke up the pillow was fused to my face,» he said.

Mavis visited her husband while he was in the hospital and looked somber as she went to see him with third degree burns.

He then returned to the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital in LA, where he was treated for his intense burns and released after 10 days.

Dr. Peter Grossman told NBC News that Leno suffered «fairly severe» burns to «about seven percent of his body,» including his face, chest and hands.

He performed skin grafts on the star, removing the burned skin and replacing it with skin from a skin bank. He noted that ‘a great part of the thickness of the skin was injured’.

In a recent interview with Pierce Morgan, Jay jokingly described the terrifying incident when he told Morgan he got a ‘brand new ear’.

Just two months after the painful incident, Leno broke his collarbone, two ribs and broke both knees in a motorcycle accident.

Leno was badly injured in a vintage motorcycle crash on January 17, just two months after he suffered severe burns when an engine exploded in his face.

He was riding a vintage motorcycle in Las Vegas on Jan. 17 when he pulled into a parking lot and was destroyed by a piece of wire that was strung across the roadway without a sign on it.

He told the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “Just last week I fell off my motorcycle. So I have a broken collarbone. I have two broken ribs. I have two cracked knees.

‘But I’m fine! I’m fine, I’m working. I’m working this weekend.

“I turned down a side street and cut through the parking lot, and before I knew it, some guy had a wire strung across the parking lot, but it didn’t have a flag on it.

“So, you know, I didn’t see it until it was too late. It just pulled me into my underwear and boom, knocked me off my bike,” Jay said.
