Kevin Costner, 69, looks sharp in a black suit as he attends the Chopard Trophy dinner in Cannes … following the death of Yellowstone actor Dabney Coleman

Kevin Costner is enjoying a night in France as he prepares for the debut of his great new American western.

The Academy Award winner, 69, cut corners in a classic black suit as he stepped out at the Chopard Trophy dinner at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on Friday ahead of the premiere of Horizon: An American Saga.

He threw the suit over a white shirt, which he wore without a tie, just a white pocket square.

Costner completed the ensemble with a black watch and black Wayfarer sunglasses with red lenses.

The Yellowstone alum posed on the red carpet with Chopard president Caroline Scheufele, who turned heads in a strapless red ensemble with giant pink flowers on her chest.

His red carpet outing came a day after Costner’s Yellowstone on-screen father, Dabney Coleman, died at the age of 92.

Coleman appeared in the season 2 finale as John Dutton Sr. in the last moments of his life.

Series creator Taylor Sheridan told Deadline of the casting, «I wrote (the Yellowstone episode), but I believe I was filming in New Mexico, and I think (Dabney Coleman) reached out and said he’d be really interested in doing something.»

«I worked with Dabney many, many years ago, almost 20 years ago, as one of the young pups,» he added.

“He’s a guy from Texas and he was such a gifted, giving actor, and I was really blown away by how good he was and how kind he was to the guy who was guest starring in his deal.

After an offstage dispute with Sheridan, 53, led to Costner’s departure last year, the actor opened up about the decision this week.

«There was no script,» Costner told Deadline. “And then things imploded. You read one version (of the show’s drama) for a year and a half.»

He added: “I’ve taken a beating from those fucking guys and I know where it’s coming from a lot of times. I just decided not to go into it.

«But if you know me well enough, I put Yellowstone first, and to suggest otherwise would be wrong,» Costner said.
