Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami named the 18th most valuable soccer club in the world – above Roma and West Ham – but two MLS clubs are even higher!

Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami have been named the 18th most valuable soccer club in the world – but two MLS clubs are even higher.

After adding Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba last summer — and Luis Suarez this year — the Herons have grabbed global attention with their 16.9 million Instagram followers possibly the most in MLS.

And according to a new study from Sportico, the club is worth $1.02 billion – more than West Ham, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Lyon, Ajax and Napoli.

Sportico reported that Inter Miami earned $127 million in 2022-23.

The figure comes after the club sold out of season tickets ahead of this season – although some fans were furious at the «disrespectful» price hike on the A’s list.

However, the two MLS clubs are apparently even more valuable, with LAFC valued at $1.15 billion and Atlanta United at $1.05 billion.

Those numbers place them 15th and 17th on the list, with Atlanta just below AC Milan and just ahead of Inter Milan.

LAFC has been one of MLS’ most consistent clubs since its debut in 2019, winning its first MLS Cup in 2022 and finishing second last year.

Meanwhile, Atlanta was the 2018 MLS Cup champion and had the league’s highest average attendance last year.

Manchester United was named the most valuable club in the world at $6.2 billion, while Liverpool (fourth), Man City (sixth), Arsenal (eighth), Tottenham (ninth) and Chelsea (tenth).

It certainly hasn’t hurt Miami’s standings that the club has been terrific so far in 2024, as the Herons lead MLS with 24 points after winning seven of their first 12 games.

Messi in particular has been spectacular as he already has 10 goals and notched a ridiculous five assists in one half against the Red Bulls last weekend.
