Luke Brattan isn’t playing in the A-League grand final – but he’s still getting the experience every Aussie football star dreams of

Luke Brattan has enjoyed plenty of highlights in his decorated A-League career – but playing opposition in the Premier League is incredibly tough.

Brattan, 34, will be a key figure for the A-League All Stars when they take on Newcastle United on Friday – and remarkably, the Sydney FC captain will play through the pain of a broken leg.

«I hurt it in the elimination final (against Macarthur FC on May 4) so I had a few jabs (of needles) to keep going,» the defensive midfielder told Daily Mail Australia.

“I’ve been lucky in my career to have played against Everton and Liverpool before, so I didn’t miss this game.

“It’s a special opportunity that I’m sure all the boys will soak up.

«With the younger guys, you never know in the whole world who’s watching, either.»

Brattan will also be watching the A-League grand final on Saturday night when the Central Coast Mariners host Melbourne Victory in Gosford.

His Sky Blues can consider themselves very unlucky not to be playing in the decider after a number of questionable tackles against them in the second qualifier on May 18.
