Marcus Rashford is not fit enough to be in the squad for Man United’s FA Cup clash with Newport as the forward continues to recover from illness after being ‘spotted in a Belfast nightclub’

Marcus Rashford will miss Manchester United’s FA Cup clash with Newport on Sunday as he continues to battle illness.

The striker did not travel to Rodney Parade with his team-mates and instead stayed at Carrington to train while he recovers.

According to the report, Rashford was spotted at a Belfast nightclub for the second time before calling in sick and missing Manchester United training on Friday.

The forward missed Friday’s session despite being seen in Northern Ireland on Wednesday before calling in sick hours later.

Footage on social media showed Rashford entering Thompsons Garage nightclub on Wednesday night with sources close to the Manchester United star saying he was having dinner.

Mail Sport understands he was back in Manchester on Friday morning but missed training that day after falling ill.

However, according to The Athletic, footage of the Englishman was seen at a club in the nation’s capital hours before he was due to report to Carrington.

Erik ten Hag revealed the England international’s absence was down to illness during his press conference ahead of their FA Cup fourth round tie against Newport County on Sunday.

«This morning Rashford was sick and Evans was sick,» the United boss said. “So we have to see how he recovers, but for the rest we have players like Martinez, like Shaw, like Maguire, like Casemiro coming back, which is a good thing.

Rashford was also seen visiting the NIFL Premiership’s Larnea training ground during his trip, where his former United team-mate Roshaun Williams now plays.

The players were scheduled to have the day off on Thursday, but Rashford was reportedly nowhere near United’s training complex on the night.

He is said to have visited Lavery’s Bar on Wednesday and Thompsons Garage nightclub on Thursday.
