MasterChef Australia fails to acknowledge a major milestone that has caused confusion among fans

MasterChef Australia hit a huge milestone last week that went completely unnoticed by the cast and production team of the hit series.

Channel Ten’s competition cooking show aired its 1,000th episode since premiering in 2009 with absolutely zero fanfare on Tuesday.

However, a handful of excited fans took to Reddit to acknowledge the milestone – and question why the show’s judges didn’t mention it on the show.

“I noticed an amazing statistic, MCA reached 1000 episodes! If you’ve seen every episode once, that’s almost 42 DAYS of programming, 24 hours a day,” wrote one enthused viewer.

Meanwhile, another fan questioned why the network didn’t take the opportunity to publicly celebrate the show.

«It’s a missed opportunity. They should have done something big this week to celebrate, especially since one of the judges just mentioned is about something big this week,” they wrote.

Between 60 and 80 episodes are typically produced for each season of the hit reality series, which first aired in April 2009, with judges Matt Preston, George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan.

The success made the hit series – which launched the public careers of many culinary experts including Poh Ling Yeoh and Julie Goodwin – the second Australian reality series ever to hit 1000 episodes.

However, a handful of excited fans took to Reddit to acknowledge the milestone - and question why the show's judges didn't mention it on the show.
