Neve, who plays Sidney Prescott in the films, refused to appear in the sixth film, due in 2023, due to a salary dispute.

The star said the salary she was offered was not equal to the «value» she brought to the franchise, which started in 1996.

In an interview with People, she said, “I didn’t feel like what I was being offered equaled the value that I bring to this franchise and have brought to this franchise for 25 years.

«And as a woman in this industry, I think it’s really important for us to be respected and to fight to be respected.»

However, Neve has signed up to return for the seventh film, which will be directed by Kevin Williamson, who wrote the scripts for Scream, Scream 2 and Scream 4.

For the upcoming film, Neve shared that the negotiations were different.

«I’m really grateful that the studio heard me when I talked about the pay disparity and when I talked about (the Scream VI negotiations) that I didn’t feel respected,» she said.

‘When they first approached me (for Scream 7), I thought, ‘I don’t know how they look respectful. We can be in very different places.’
