Pep Guardiola urges Man City to seize ‘unique’ opportunity against bogey Tottenham in pursuit of historic fourth Premier League title

Pep Guardiola has told his Manchester City stars to embrace history as they start the week two wins away from an unprecedented fourth Premier League title.

A bogey win at Tottenham on Tuesday night would make City overwhelming favorites to pip Arsenal to the crown.

City were nervous as they shut out Fulham 4-0 at the weekend and their recent surplus has seen goal difference come back into play.

Arsenal lead by three goals and that could come into play if City pick up four points from their last two games.

«We know what we are playing for, how difficult it is to be here,» Guardiola said. «We are ready again and we have something unique in front of us.

«We have to perform at our best in everything. We need the right tension and the focus has to be there.

«If we play these games relaxed, it’s a big problem. Maybe Spurs will play in the Champions League qualifiers and have a big goal as well.»

Nathan Ake will undergo a scan ahead of the trip to north London, while Jack Grealish is back after an absence. City’s miserable record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – losing all four in the league since it opened – is something that will need to be rectified.

Guardiola added: “To do something that no other team has done, we have to do something special. If we’ve never done it in the Premier League, we have to do it this time.

«It’s time to do it. Otherwise, Arsenal will be champions. Thinking is exactly what you need to do to win games. You focus on the work and what you have to do is much better.

“Other situations will not be in your mind. This is what you have to do. Everyone knows what we’re playing for.»
