Police immediately arrested a pedophile (54) who threw a boy (10) over a 30-meter cliff

This is the shocking moment police arrested a man who tried to throw a child over a 100ft cliff after he was caught sexually abusing a young girl.

Anthony Stocks, 54, was found guilty of the attempted murder of a 10-year-old boy after he groomed his young sister and made her dependent on him while working as an extra on several films.

A panel of 12 jurors at Oxford Crown Court today unanimously found Stocks, of Goring and Reading, guilty of all eight counts, including attempted murder, rape and sexual assault.

The footage shows the moment he was arrested by police at his home, where the officer reads him a long list of crimes he has committed.

The video then continues to show Stocks being questioned by police after the boy fell, where he says he slipped of his own volition. He is also seen telling the police that he did not mean for the boy to fall off the cliff.

The court heard how the young girl confided at the boy, who both cannot be named for legal reasons following the attacks, and said she was «scared». Stocks then realized that the boy knew about the attacks and planned to ‘disrupt’ them.

In September 2022, Stocks took the boy to Ovingdean, Sussex, after considering pushing him off a cliff in a quarry a few weeks earlier.

A witness reports seeing «a small shape fall as if thrown off a cliff», followed by a «scream», but the boy says he does not remember whether he was pushed or dropped.

He was then airlifted to St George’s Hospital in London, where he was found to have multiple fractures to his head and arm, a neck deformity and a lacerated spleen and kidney.

When questioned by police, the girl said Stocks admitted he was going to push the boy off the cliff «when he wanted to get rid of him».

Jurors today heard how a 10-year-old schoolboy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, «miraculously» survived a 100ft fall after landing on a concrete pad at the foot of the cliffs.

Prosecutors claimed the twice-married defendant decided to lure the boy on a trip to London to see Chelsea football stadium before later pushing him off a cliff in Brighton as the boy tried to stop Stocks from molesting his underage sister.

After spending several months in the hospital, the boy told police he «knew everything» about the sexual abuse his underage sister allegedly suffered at the hands of Stocks after the girl confided in him that Stocks asked her to «pretty much have sex with him sex». daily.’

The boy began to «interfere» and stay with his sister whenever the abuser was around in an attempt to stop the abuse – which made Stocks «really angry», jurors heard.

In his interview with police, the boy described growing suspicious of Stocks’ behavior towards his sister after seeing him kiss the girl «on the lips» before they «walked behind the bushes» in the park where the children were playing.

The boy said: “Every time my sister went somewhere, he (Stocks) followed her. Then she told me he asked her to have sex with him. It happened almost every day.

«I felt very sad for her. At that moment I didn’t know what to do. I don’t think he (Stocks) knew I knew everything. But he was disappointed and sighed every time I was there – because nothing would happen.’

The boy’s sister, who gave vivid evidence in court, said Stocks «terrified» her and she had not spoken to anyone about the alleged sexual assaults she was going through – except her little brother.

When asked why she told her brother, the girl replied: «So he would help me.»

The girl added that a few nights before the trip to Chelsea Stadium, Stocks approached her and told her: ‘I’m going to push him off a cliff. I want to get rid of him so we can be together.”

The court heard the girl tried to warn her brother not to ride with Stocks – to no avail as the boy was a keen Chelsea fan and ‘always wanted’ to see the stadium.

When police arrested Stocks, he denied ever touching the girl and claims the boy’s fall was accidental.

Last week he told jurors he was a film buff and wanted to take the boys to the cliff edge in Ovingdean to «see where they filmed Quadrophenia» – the 1979 British drama film based on The Who’s 1973 rock opera of the same name.

After sentencing, Stocks’ barrister Martin Rutherford told Judge Nigel Daly there was no evidence the defendant suffered from any mental illness.

Stocks was remanded in custody and is due to reappear at Oxford Crown Court in late July for sentencing.

Judge Daly said: “These are very serious offences. I will have to consider the dangerousness with regard to the prosecution, particularly with regard to attempted murder, which had a motive in the first six counts of raping and sexually assaulting a young girl.

“That will take some time. I want to look into a lot of things about his past. In any case, a long prison sentence will be imposed.”

Stocks was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault on a child under 13 and one count of committing or inducing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

He was also found guilty of one count of raping a child on at least three occasions and attempted murder, but pleaded not guilty to all charges.
