Quadria Capital invests $102 million in NephroPlus, a leading dialysis chain

Hyderabad-based dialysis chain NephroPlus has secured 850 million rupees (about $102 million) in funding from healthcare private equity firm Quadria Capital. This investment marks a pivotal moment for NephroPlus, with Quadria Capital acquiring a substantial minority stake in the company through a combination of primary and secondary transactions.

The transaction, which included the purchase of shares from existing stakeholders, is expected to propel NephroPlus to further expansion and market dominance. According to a statement issued by NephroPlus, the capital infusion will be instrumental in supporting the company’s growth initiatives and strategic expansion, including potential acquisitions in the future.

Vikram Vuppala, Founder and CEO of NephroPlus, expressed optimism about the company’s trajectory, saying, “Our business has evolved tremendously over the past few years and today we are proud to be one of the fastest growing and most trusted providers of high quality dialysis. about 30,000 patients.»

Founded in 2010 by Vikram Vuppala along with Kamal D Shah and Pullaiah Vuppala, NephroPlus has become a major player in the dialysis industry, operating 450 dialysis centers in 250 cities in India, the Philippines and Uzbekistan. In particular, the company has expanded its reach through strategic partnerships and acquisitions, including a joint venture with Saudi Arabia-based Tibbiyah aimed at strengthening its dialysis services.

Commenting on the investment, Sunil Thakur, Partner and Head of South Asia at Quadria Capital, highlighted the firm’s commitment to supporting healthcare champions across Asia. «Quadria’s investment in NephroPlus underscores our ambition to invest in Asia’s regional healthcare champions that provide high-quality, affordable healthcare to large underserved populations,» Thakur noted.
