Alan Brazil left his birthday broadcast early on Friday due to illness, his former talkSPORT colleague Mike Parry has revealed.

The show was performed live in front of a crowd at the Marquis Hotel and Restaurant in Suffolk.

And those in attendance were somewhat confused when Brazil left co-host Ray Parlor with about an hour remaining.

The 64-year-old did not return, but Parry allayed fears it was due to something too serious.

Posting a picture of himself and Brazil on X, Parry wrote: ‘OK FOLKS .. Just got a reassurance update for you on Al @alanbrazil.

On Friday, during his birthday broadcast, he retired from the last hour because he fell ill. It has been confirmed to have caught the 48-hour virus.

‘He is now back to full strength and will be back on @talkSPORT next week.’

One listener wrote on X: “Alan Brazil dived from his own 65th birthday party thrown for him at his local bar. Only Alan Brazil can beat Brazil Brazil.
