Strictly Come Dancing pros fear they may not return to the hit BBC show – despite reaching the final: ‘Fingers crossed… I hope I do!’

Strictly Come Dancing pro Carlo Gu has admitted he may not return for another series of the hit BBC show.

The 31-year-old dancer joined the show in 2022 and reached the final with EastEnders actress Molly Rainford in his first series.

Carlos and Molly wowed the audience but missed out on presenting the Glitterball trophy to Hamza Yassin and partner Jowita Przystal.

During the last series, Carlos was paired with TV presenter Angela Scanlon, but they were voted off in week 10.

The duo were devastated when they left, but recently reunited for the Strictly Come Dancing tour.

The 31-year-old dancer joined the show in 2022 and reached the final with EastEnders actress Molly Rainford in his first series.

Speaking to The Mirror, Carlos revealed whether he will be returning to the BBC show, which airs later this year.

He said, ‘I’m keeping my fingers crossed, you know. I hope to be’.

In November last year, Angela broke down in tears as she opened up about her shock Strictly exit on It Takes Two.

The 39-year-old One Show host and her professional partner Carlos were eliminated after a tense dance-off with Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin.

An emotional Angela had to be comforted by Carlos as she opened up about her exit after watching a highlight reel of her.

The presenter told host Fleur East that she was «stung» to leave the competition just a week after wowing the judges with her Argentinian tango in Blackpool.

«There were some special moments. I feel really grateful for them. In life, in this glorious madness, you can have a solid path, be in the middle of the road and have a pretty smooth path,” Angela said.

«I’ve always felt that the ups and downs are better for you when you feel things deeply, whether it’s right down there or right up there.»

The duo were devastated when they left but recently reunited for the Strictly Come Dancing tour and Carlos revealed he is «hopeful» he will be asked to return to the BBC show.

“Charleston, week three and the top of the rankings – this kind of completely surprised us and it was so joyful and wonderful.

“Argentine tango in Blackpool, for me, which is maybe why it’s so hot to come a week later.

The pair showed off their strong bond as they held hands, with Carlos wiping away tears as they watched their best moments on the show.

During the show’s dance off, Angela narrowly missed out on a place in the quarter-finals after failing to win over the judges with her cha-cha-cha to Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive.

Angela faced Layton and his pro partner Nikita Kuzmin, who performed Perry Como’s American Smooth to Magic Moments, originally for 34 points.
