The awkward moment a TV reporter thinks she’s interviewing a former NFL star… only to be told she’s not!

An assistant college football coach was mistakenly identified as former NFL star Vince Young during an awkward interview with the Golf Channel on Thursday.

Young, a former No. 3 overall pick by the Titans and a 2006 NCAA national champion at Texas, is competing in the BMW Charity Pro-Am in South Carolina.

Naturally, Golf Channel’s Lauren Withrow wanted to talk to the former NFL player, but she accidentally interviewed Citadel assistant Everette Sands instead.

Withrow began listing Young’s accomplishments live to answer the question, before Sands graciously told her she wasn’t a Texas legend.

“Now I’m sorry, you have the wrong person,” he said before identifying himself.

He continued, «The great thing about golf is that I’m not just competing with myself, I’m competing with everyone else.»

Withrow then asked one more question before ending the interview.

Even Fox Sports analyst and former NFL player Emmanuel Acho weighed in.

‘There is no way…. Absolutely, no way, they thought this man, Everette Sands, was my guy, Vince Young,” he wrote on X with a picture of Sands’ Citadel trainer’s head.
