The minister briefs Tinubu on the sports industry

The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, met President Tinubu at Aso Rock Villa on Friday to give a comprehensive report on his stewardship of the sports sector.

The meeting highlighted significant achievements and ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting the growth and development of sports in Nigeria.

According to a statement signed by the Minister’s Special Adviser Diana-Mary Nsan and made available to the Sporting Tribune, Enoh outlined achievements in various sporting events, including the Africa Cup of Nations, the African Games and the World Relays. Championship in the Bahamas while highlighting the positive strides of Nigerian athletes on the international stage and showing the nation’s prowess and determination in the world of sports.

The statement further said that the minister who was commended by the President also outlined the ministry’s vision to increase private investment in industry and support sports for the development and growth of sports.

“President Tinubu commended Minister Enoh for his dedication and proactive initiatives in the development of the sports industry. He acknowledged the key role the Minister plays in driving positive change and promoting excellence in the sector. The minister expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for his steadfast support and advocacy of the sports sector.

“He credited the President’s bold leadership and visionary policies for the transformational changes we have witnessed in Nigerian sports. Enoh noted that under the leadership of President Tinubu, the sports industry has undergone a major facelift that ushered in a new era of growth and opportunity, with the Ministry of Sports now standing alone in youth development.

“The discussion also focused on the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris and other international tournaments on the horizon. Minister Enoh gave an insight into the preparations of Team Nigeria and outlined strategies aimed at ensuring a successful trip for the national athletes.

“President Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to support Team Nigeria’s participation in the Olympic Games and pledged to provide the necessary resources and assistance to facilitate their success. He expressed confidence in the ability of Nigerian athletes and reiterated his belief in their potential to excel on the global stage.

“The minister thanked all those involved for their support and commitment to the development of Nigerian sports. He thanked President Tinubu for his invaluable leadership and assured him of his continued commitment to driving excellence and innovation in the sports sector.
