The terrifying moment a mother and baby in a pram were hit by a Mitsubishi – police hunt for the driver

The heart-stopping moment a mother pushing her baby in a pram was hit by a car in an alleged hit-and-run was caught on CCTV.

The woman was crossing Claremont Street in Merrylands in Sydney’s west when a blue Mitsubishi veered into the street and hit her about 1.40pm on Friday.

The Mitsubishi was then seen driving away from the injured mother.

Unbelievably, the car missed the stroller by inches and the baby was unharmed, but the woman in her 40s fell to the ground with a broken leg.

Witnesses who called the emergency services came to her aid. Shortly afterwards, the woman’s son arrived and took care of the little sister.

The shocking alleged hit-and-run (pictured), captured on CCTV on Friday afternoon, shows a mother pushing her baby in a pram after being hit by a car in Sydney’s south-west.

Witnesses told the officers present that the driver of the car did not stop.

Local man Mohammed Narrouzi was one of the first on the scene.

He found the woman on the side of the road with the child by her side.

“She was lying there bleeding and I asked her what happened. She was barely talking,” Mr. Narrouzi told 9News.

As well as trying to comfort the injured mother, who is from Afghanistan, Mr Narrouzi also acted as her interpreter as she described the driver to police.

Police are still looking for the driver and have urged them or anyone who recognizes the blue Mitsubishi to come forward.

Incredibly, the car missed the pram by inches and the baby was unhurt, but the woman fell to the ground with a broken leg (pictured in the ambulance)
