Tragic final hug: Seven-months-pregnant woman hugs Brit ‘love rival’ after discovering they were dating the same man and met… before cheating boyfriend stabbed mum-to-be to death in bath

An Italian man who discovered his heavily pregnant girlfriend had met his secret British lover told a Milan court on Monday how he stabbed his 37-year-old partner as she lay in the bath.

Bartender Alessandro Impagnetiello, 31, has confessed to the brutal murder of his 29-year-old girlfriend, Giulia Tramontano, who was seven months pregnant, after she met his secret lover last year.

This second lover, a British-Italian waitress, contacted Giulia after learning of Impagnetiello’s affair.

The weary women met on May 27, 2023 to exchange stories of what the Briton described to police as the barman’s «psychological abuse», and poignant CCTV footage captured the moment the pair shared a hearty hug as they left the meeting.

But Impagnetiello pounced on his pregnant girlfriend just hours later, bursting into the bathroom and slashing furiously at her as she bathed.

Prosecutors say Impagnetiello decided to kill Giulia when she was contacted by a 23-year-old British man who had also been seeing him and discovered he already had a pregnant girlfriend.

The waitress, who has not been named in the trial, contacted Giulia after learning of Impagnatiello’s double life and the two confided in each other about his abuse.

Even after discovering that Impagnatiello is cheating on her, it is clear that Giulia has decided to live with him «as long as necessary» for the sake of their unborn child.

But just hours after returning from a date with Impagnetiella’s lover, she was killed in a frenzied knife attack by the father of her unborn child.

In a stunning confession, the killer told a Milan court on Monday: “I killed Giulia Tramontano, but I don’t know why. The number of stab wounds will always haunt me.

“The person I was then is not the person I am today.

“This exam helps me organize my scattered thoughts and confusing pieces.

“Now I can reveal the real truth. I created a web of lies in which I drowned.’

Impagnetiello went on to explain how, after killing his girlfriend, he watched a football match on his phone before stuffing Giulia’s corpse into the boot of his car.

Then he went to see his mother for lunch.

«I was at my mother’s for lunch with the body in the car,» he admitted to the court.

A day later, he reported her missing to the police.

Then, in an attempt to throw investigators off the scent, he burned several of Giulia’s personal belongings, threw away her ID and passport and sent text messages to her phone asking where she was and begging her to come back.

He tried to claim that Giulia left him after she found out about his secret relationship and that he was worried about her disappearance.

However, the bartender was unable to continue the ruse and eventually confessed to investigators days after committing the murder.

It later emerged that Impagnatiello’s British lover became suspicious and alerted the police after receiving unusual messages from Giulia’s phone.

«She was writing messages in a different way than before,» the waitress told police, according to Italian news agency ANSA.

It was subsequently revealed that Impagnetiello had sent suspicious messages to his British lover from Giulia’s phone after stabbing her to death.

Police also say the bartender administered rat poison to Giulia for months before her eventual murder, hoping to induce a miscarriage after she told him she was pregnant.

Investigators found Impagnetiello had conducted online searches for «ammonia fruit,» «rat poison» and «how much rat poison does it take to kill a human» when they searched his phone and devices.
