Uber passenger killed in Brisbane hit and run identified as Ryan Grafton


A man killed in a suspected hit-and-run while traveling in an Uber has been identified as tributes from heartbroken family and friends.

Ryan Grafton, 30, was a passenger in an Uber when police allege a man in a stolen Ford Mondeo ran a red light and crashed into the carpool at high speed.

The crash happened at the junction of Boundary Road and Progress Road in Wacol, 22km south-west of the Brisbane CBD, at 2.15am on Tuesday.

Paramedics rushed to the scene but Mr Grafton could not be saved.

The two cars collided at the junction of Boundary Road and Progress Road in Wacol, 22km south-west of the Brisbane CBD.

The Uber driver, a 42-year-old man, suffered back injuries and was taken to hospital in stable condition.

A 26-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Camry at the time of the crash was taken to the hospital for treatment of chest and abdominal pain.

Mr Grafton’s grieving family said he will be deeply missed by his friends and loved ones.

“Ryan was a kind person. He wasn’t perfect, but he had the biggest heart,» they said.

“He was loved by his family and friends.

Queensland Police have appealed for the man to come forward as detectives from the Forensic Crash Unit carry out an investigation into the incident.
